Akua Mind & Body supports individuals navigating mental health and recovery through structured programs, group sessions, and ongoing care. As their services expanded, so did the complexity of coordinating patients, clinicians, sessions, and community touchpoints across multiple tools and manual workflows.

Akua wasn’t looking for another point solution. They needed a single, secure platform that could bring patient engagement, telehealth, staff coordination, and administration together without losing the human core of care.

Saguna Consulting partnered with Akua Mind & Body to design and build a mobile and web platform that supports patients and staff across the full care journey, from onboarding to ongoing engagement.

Why this mattered

Care experiences break down when systems don’t connect.
Patients felt the friction of fragmented communication. Staff spent time coordinating logistics instead of focusing on care. And as programs scaled, those gaps became harder to manage.

A unified platform wasn’t just an operational improvement, it was essential to delivering consistent, accessible, and scalable care.

The constraint

Akua’s clinical workflows continued to evolve as programs took shape. Requirements changed. Roles overlapped. Schedules shifted.

At the same time, the platform needed to:

  • Support complex role-based access across patients, clinicians, and admins
  • Enable secure telehealth, group sessions, and real-time communication
  • Integrate with existing EMR systems without compromising data integrity
  • Perform reliably from day one

Our delivery

Saguna Consulting led end-to-end discovery to translate Akua’s clinical and operational workflows into a scalable product architecture.

We designed modular data models for users, roles, appointments, groups, and care tracks allowing the platform to adapt as rules and programs evolved. The solution included a patient-facing mobile experience and a web-based admin portal supporting scheduling, verification, communication, and program management.

By partnering closely with Akua’s clinical and administrative teams, we shipped iteratively, validating assumptions early, refining workflows continuously, and building a platform designed to grow without re-architecture.

Looking Ahead

The platform is rolling out as an MVP across active patients and staff, with a roadmap that includes deeper EMR integration, enhanced analytics, and expanded community features.
